If caffeine bothers you, please avoid consuming it as we don’t want you to have the jitters.

If you wear contacts and are having your eyeliner applied, bring your glasses for the trip home. If you do not have glasses, please make arrangements for a ride because you will not be able to wear your contacts for the rest of the day.

Wear comfortable clothing and don’t be too nervous. I will take good care of you!

Post-Procedure Information and After Care Instructions

REMEMBER: Like any cosmetic procedure this is a process. Do not expect immediate results - and please be patient. It will be a few weeks before you can fully appreciate the results, and you will love it.

Shape and Color

Immediately after the procedure the area treated will look much darker and much more defined or harsh than the final results. Be prepared for the color to be significantly lighter and the overall appearance much softer and more natural after the healing occurs. It will take time for this transition, based on how quickly the outer layer of your skin exfoliates. Usually the exfoliation (peeling) process occurs on about day 4 or 5 and will be complete at about day 7 (1 week). At that point the contrast between the initial intense and dark color and the new softer and lighter color may be such that you may be very disappointed. DO NOT WORRY!

This fading is expected and normal, and

You will be receiving a second application, a "perfecting session" in a few weeks.

At that time SHAPE and COLOR will be adjusted to your liking. We can add very easily, but it is much more difficult to remove! After a week your tattoo will look completely healed, however there is still healing under the surface that needs to occur.  Therefore, you must wait at least 4 weeks between applications. Touching up a tattoo prematurely may result in a ruined tattoo and/or the development of scar tissue.

EYEBROW INFORMATION

Immediately after the procedure your eyebrows will probably appear to be too dark, too thick and have a rather unnatural "drawn in" appearance. It is only after healing is complete that you will be able to appreciate fully the color and softness of your eyebrows. Most of the time, your new eyebrows will actually be too light, this will be corrected during the "perfecting session".

Your eyebrows will likely have some colored flaking as they heal. This flaking is completely normal and part of body’s the natural exfoliation process. DO NOT PICK AT THE FLAKES!  Picking will result in inconsistent healing and you will lose color.

EYEBROWS AFTER CARE

During the healing period (1 week):

·         DO NOT PICK!

·         Gently blot your brows with a clean tissue for the first few hours.  If a crust forms, gently wash with mild soap and water, blot dry.

·         Apply a very thin coat of Grapeseed Oil or Aquaphor, with a clean cotton swab, 2-3 times a day for comfort.

·         We live in a world full of germs, infection is always a risk, do not touch your open wound with your fingers.

·         Avoid activities that will make you sweat for about 24 hours.

·         Do not expose your new eyebrows to chlorinated water for the first week.

·         Do not soak in water or let a strong shower stream hit your eyebrows.

·         Avoid heavy sweating and dirty activities, like heavy gardening.

·         Be gentle when washing your face, your brows can get wet but do not need to be washed, then lightly blot dry.

·         Avoid direct exposure to the sun.

·         DO NOT PICK!

Cold packs can help with swelling and discomfort. Do not place ice directly on your eyebrows, place a clean, wet cotton round between the ice and the eyebrow. Another solution is to mix 50% water and 50% Witch Hazel in a baggie.  Soak cotton rounds in the Witch Hazel solution and store in the refrigerator.  When cold, place the cotton rounds over each eyebrow for 10 minutes at a time.  This is very soothing and does wonders for swelling!

After the healing is complete you may resume regular care. The use of daily sunscreen is strongly recommended to prevent fading. If you use foundation, you will find that you are "hiding" your eyebrows. Just take a cotton swab dipped in water and gently wipe the foundation from your eyebrows.

EYELINER INFORMATION

Immediately after the procedure the eyelids will be slightly swollen. Because of the swelling the eyeliner will appear to be much thicker and sometimes distorted. The color will also appear to be extremely dark, even when soft colors are used. DO NOT WORRY! In 2-3 days the liner will be reduced to the desired thickness and will be more even as the swelling goes down.

However the color will remain dark until the healing process is complete (approximately 7 days). At this point your eyeliner may be too light, uneven, "not enough", etc. Relax, when you return for your "follow up" we can adjust and add as much as you desire.

If the swelling persists beyond 48 hours or becomes worse, or if the eyes become inflamed (red, itchy, watery) you must call Effortless Beauty Permanent Cosmetics, LLC immediately so we can determine the best course of action. This is a very rare occurrence but can develop in patients with extremely sensitive eyes. Use your best judgment, if you think that you should seek medical care, do it!

Your eyeliner will likely have some colored flaking as they heal. This flaking is completely normal and part of the body’s natural exfoliation process. DO NOT PICK AT THE FLAKES! Picking will result in inconsistent healing and you will lose color.

After healing is complete you may resume regular care. Whenever you apply makeup that covers your eyeliner, simply wipe with a damp Qtip.  Wearing sunglasses will help block the sun for fading.

LIPS INFORMATION

SHAPE: Immediately after the procedure lips may appear to be uneven or crooked, due to swelling. Please do not be concerned. The swelling diminishes (24-48 hours) and your lips will become evenly shaped.

COLOR: Following the lip procedure, skin on the lips will reacts differently than the rest of your skin. You will experience 3 stages:

Initial color is "too much", until a slight peeling occurs at about 4-5 days.

The color is then "not enough" - you may think that the procedure didn’t work and want to come back earlier for your second application. YOU MUST WAIT!

3-4 weeks later the color "miraculously” reappears; however, it is much softer and with a more muted tone than the original color. (I know this sounds crazy but it really does disappear then reappear.)

MEDICATIONS: Most clients get a prescription for antiviral medication ZOVIRAX or VALTREX (2 days before/5 days after). It prevents cold sores and/or a herpes break out. If you have ever had a cold sore or fever blister, even if it was years ago, I highly recommend contacting your physician or dentist for a precautionary prescription. Simply explain to them that you are going to have permanent cosmetics applied to your lips and they will understand.

LIPS AFTER CARE

Immediately after your procedure, you can use cold compresses as described below and you may take Tylenol or Ibuprofen (no aspirin) for swelling or discomfort.

Your lips will have some colored flaking and peeling as they heal.  This peeling is completely normal and part of the body’s natural exfoliation process. DO NOT PICK AT THE FLAKES or PEEL THE DEAD SKIN! Picking will result in inconsistent healing and you will lose color. During the healing period (1 week):

·         DO NOT PICK!

·         Keep your lips moist all the time with the ointment prescribed. Use a clean cotton swab to lightly apply the ointment. You are trying to avoid scabbing.

·         Avoid activities that will make you sweat for about 24 hours.

·         Do not expose your lips to chlorinated water for the first week.

·         Do not soak in water or let strong shower stream hit your lips.

·         Avoid heavy sweating and dirty activities, like heavy gardening.

·         We live in a world full of germs, infection is always a risk, do not touch your open wound with your fingers.

·         To clean use only baby oil or mild soap and water. Be gentle and blot dry.

·         Avoid direct exposure to the sun.

·         Avoid spicy food and heat.

·         DO NOT PICK!

Cold packs can help with swelling and discomfort. Do not place ice directly on your lips, place a clean, wet cotton round between the ice and your lips. Another solution is to mix 50% water and 50% Witch Hazel in a baggie.  Soak cotton rounds in the Witch Hazel solution and store in the refrigerator.  When cold, place the cotton rounds over your lips for 10 minutes at a time.  This is very soothing and does wonders for swelling!

It is preferable to avoid lipstick until after peeling has occurred. But you may apply some, if necessary; providing it is clean (wipe it thoroughly before applying to your lips).

Once healing is complete you may resume regular care.  If you do not wear lipstick, you should apply a sun block to avoid fading. If you apply makeup you might cover your lips. Use a cotton swab dipped in baby oil to clean the makeup from your lips.
